HISTORICAL PRESERVATION

We work directly with preservationists, architects and general contractors to restore historical floors to their original quality and better.  We are able to source any type of wood needed including reclaimed wood and river recovered wood.  We can recreate any pattern ever made.  We have worked on special restoration projects at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, The Vanderbilt Mansion on Fisher Island, the Gusman Olympia Theater in Miami, the Carl Fisher Clubhouse on Miami Beach, the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, the Ft. Lauderdale Woman’s Club and more!

Gusman Olympia Theater in Miami

The Gusman was originally built in 1926 as a silent movie theater and has served as a concert venue and performing arts center through the years.  In 1984, it received historical designation.  Vintage Floors and Interiors is proud to have been chosen to restore the theater stage as part of a lager renovation project in 2009.  We repaired the damaged wood, added an apron to the front, then professionally sanded and finished the wood with a dark stain.  This created a beautiful, cohesive look to the entire stage area.

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami

Vizcaya is a historic landmark built in 1914 by John Deering as his private Estate.  In 1970 it received historical designation.  Since 2005, we have been working at Vizcaya doing restoration and maintenance work on the wood flooring and wood staircases as the need arises.  We use reclaimed wood to maintain the architectural integrity.  We are proud to be a part of the ongoing renovation team for this spectacular Miami cultural treasure.

Vanderbilt Mansion on Fisher Island in Miami

The historic Vanderbilt Mansion was originally built in the 1920’s and is now the centerpiece of Fisher Island Hotel & Resort.  We were part of the historic restoration team in 2012 when we renovated the wood flooring as part of this project.  We recreated the exact Fontainebleau Pattern using Oak wood which is the same as was installed more than 100 years ago.  With the proper care and maitenance, these floors should last for another 100 years!
